Giant forest ants (Dinomyrmex gigas) can reach and exceed 3 centimetres, making them the largest ants in Asia, and certainly among the top contenders for the largest ants in the world.
Dinomyrmex is a monotypic genus of ant containing the species Dinomyrmex gigas or giant forest ant. D. gigas is a large species of ant, native to Southeast Asian forests.
