One of the most common solitary bees in Singapore. Nests are constructed underground. Females have the ability to sonicate and access pollen from buzz-pollinated plants. Visits flowers of both native plants (e.g. Melastoma malabathricum, Ardisia elliptica) and cultivated edible plants (e.g. brinjal, chilli, tomato). Nparks

Eyes black. Thorax dark, with yellow hairs on the rear margin. Abdomen black with smooth, opalescent bands; band colour may vary from yellow-green to bright blue.
